Eileen Child

QUALIFICATIONS: Eileen’s qualifications and experiences are inclusive of her childhood and youth being spent in India and England and adult life being spent in Australia. She has followed the artistic Principals of Visual Arts from which she qualified from the Perth Technical College. (Here is where she had the opportunity of learning from famous Artists such as Ivor Hunt and Howard Taylor.) She learnt Ballet, reaching a status of excellence from which she was later able to teach and Fashion where she worked as a model.

ARTIST: Eileen commenced her life in India and at the age of ten went to live in England. Her father greatly encouraged her artistic interests making sure she didn’t encounter the frustrations he had experienced. On arriving in Australia as a teenager Eileen studied Visual Arts and Classical Ballet. Her Fine Art skills eventuated in an appointment with the Department of Education where she was employed as an illustrator for the ‘W. A’s Children’s School Paper'. After this she married, and did her Fashion modelling. She was a well known model and popular for Catwalk, Photographic and Television appearances. Following fashion she moved back to dance where she taught at the ‘Linley Wilson School of Ballet’. Then with husband and two children she moved to Cairns in Queensland where she lived for fourteen years working in tourism and public relations. On returning to the West she moved to Safety Bay where her love of painting became her priority. She joined the Visual Arts Society and helping establish the noted Rockingham Watercolour Society. She now has a dedicated following of clients and holds the respect of all who enjoy her frequently displayed artwork in competitive and non-competitive exhibitions. Her art extends internationally and is housed in Collections in Japan, (including Rockingham’s Sister City) Holland, United Kingdom and Australia.

MEDIA: Eileen mainly works in Watercolour and Pastels but branches into Mixed Media, Inks Graphite and Charcoal.

SUBJECTS: She has a definite infinity with drawing and painting the Human Form and these works have proven popular with her audiences. Her other love is that of the sea where images of Shorelines and Seascapes acknowledge her Plein Air skills in the area in which she lives.
