Artistic Experiences:
Following an apprenticeship in Commercial Art, Marilyn became a successful freelance Fashion Illustrator. Her work was used by the likes of Moores, Irene Whyte and Myer for their retail advertising in the printed media.
Marilyn also tutored at two of Perth’s tertiary institutes Perth College of Art & Design and Bentley TAFE, and she become the Inaugural Artist in Residence at the now well known Loftus Centre.
Marilyn has illustrated two Children’s Books and co-illustrated another publication.
Since 1987 Marilyn has been the number one courtroom artist for the WA TV stations. Some of her courtroom art has also appeared in WA and Eastern States newspapers as well as on TV in the UK. In recent years Marilyn has done many commissions of Character Portraits or Caricatures for special occasions or celebrations.
Media:
Marilyn works in Multi Media, frequently mixing and matching inks, and pigment as she competently manipulates brushes, pens, pencils, and other tools of trade. Her understanding of fabricated surfaces is evident in her chosen grounds for her creations.
Artwork:
Marilyn has also a growing business in caricatures for clients wanting some thing different and special in the way of a gifts and memorabilia for celebrated occasions.
Apart from her Fine Arts, Marilyn also uses her cartooning skills to produce a very popular range of unique handcrafted cards called “Shell Card Characters” Many of these special individual cards have found their way into numerous homes worldwide.
