QUALIFICATIONS: B. Ed Secondary - Art West Australian Institute of Technology

ARTIST: Marion was born in Ilfracombe in England coming to Australia in 1969. She has always had an interest in Fine Arts being influenced by her grandfather and mother who both had artistic involvements. Through her tertiary education it became apparent that Marion would follow a career in the Visual Arts. She has specialised in many fields including her favourites, Fine Arts, Textiles and Ceramics. She has worked, and continues to do so, in Business Fine Arts being a partner in Rockingham’s leading arts supply outlet ‘About Art’. (Above right: Oil on Canvas ‘Falling Leaves’)

MEDIA: Marion’s direct access to art products and material manufacturers has given her an exceptional understanding of Media, Mediums and tools of trade. There are very few media that she hasn’t experienced, all to which she takes to tutorial levels, a benefit to her many students

CATEGORIES & SUBJECTS: In Fine Arts, Marion shows a firm grounding in numerous Categories but works mainly in Traditional format. Her subject selection is dispersed throughout her drawings and paintings of Portraiture, Landscape and Seascapes. In all her artworks she displays utilitarian direction as she interweaves the knowledge between her favourite materials found in painting, drawing, fabrication and hand built ceramics.

ARTWORKS: Marion is an Award winning artist and has successfully exhibited in local and State level competitive exhibitions. Outside of her teaching and running an Art Business she executes commissioned artworks. Between 1985 and 2000 the major commissions have included: Banner Making Series for Leeuwin Way Tourism Committee – Logo for Shire of Norseman – Portrait for Pennington Collection – Pen and Ink Mining Images for Central Norseman gold Corp and others for the Norseman District Hospital. Marion is a well sort after Demonstrator, Tutor and Workshop facilitator. Her community contributions include the generous gifts for fundraising by local groups.
